Dharwad: Sankranti is being celebrated in Hubballi-Dharwad and surrounding villages with festive fervour and gaiety.

While the urban folk were seen enjoying the day by visiting temples and going for picnic at nearby parks, the ruralites offered special puja at temples, cattles including bullocks were decorated with different colours and people dressed in traditional attire went to their fields and other tourist places to spend time with family and friends.

The Sadhankeri, Kelageri, Unkal, Yattingudda parks were abuzz with people and majority of children, who visited the place spent time playing and had variety of food brought with them.

At Sadhanakere Park, members of various organisations and Mahila Mandals took part in a get together organised by Janapada Sanshodhana Kendra. The members sung folk songs, danced and distributed sweets and other dishes amid merrymaking.

The participants, majority being women, were seen dressed traditionally and wearing jewellery. After having food, they exchanged Yellu-Bella and wished each other.
