Murder: Two accused arrested within six hours

Dharwad: The Dharwad Suburban Police on Monday solved a murder case within six hours of its occurrence, and arrested two persons allegedly involved in it.

Truck driver who ran over police constable nabbed-1Hanumanth Thammanavar (30), a resident of Narayanpur here was killed behind the Dharwad Regional Science Centre in the Karnataka University campus on Sunday night allegedly by his brother-in-law Shivakumar Hebballi (22) and his friend Basavaraj Kyarkoppa (30).

As both the accused were a drunk, they “forgot” to flee the crime spot and were caught by the people within the campus while they were roaming in the campus with blood stained dresses.

According to police, the accused crushed the victim to death over a family dispute.

Hanumanth had married Shivakumar’s sister Yashodha about seven years ago and since then he was harassing her. Yashodha complained to her brother regarding the harassment, which resulted in the two accused killing Hanumanth.

The duo called the victim to KUD campus on the pretext of drinking and later smashed his head with a boulder. A case has been registered at suburban police station in this regard.
