Dharwad: Mathe Mahadevi took a controversial stance by squarely blaming women and holding them responsible for all the mess in the society referring to cases of molestation reported from Bengaluru.

Speaking to reporters, Mahadevi said women wearing provocative outfits and roaming freely past midnight gave room for men on the prowl an opportunity to exploit the situation during New Year celebrations.

She opined that unilateralism by modern women in the guise of personal freedom had resulted in more attacks on them and suggested a strict dress code for women in the country and Arab laws to rein in miscreants.

She also blamed the filmdom and visual media for the current mess and concluded by saying women and society per se are equally responsible for the state of affairs.
