Dharwad: Karnatak University Dharwad (KUD) Vice-Chancellor Prof. Pramod B. Gayi on Sunday launched cleanliness of a tank and beautification of ‘Basava honda’ (water reservoir) at Mansur village which has been adopted by the University as part of its programme ‘Vishwavidyalayada Nadige Samudaya Abhivridhiyedege’.
The NSS volunteers participating in the ‘National Integration Camp’ being held at University and Mansur villagers joined hands in cleaning the Mansur tank.
VC said, “The Basava Honda beautification work will be undertaken at a cost of Rs. 10 lakhs.” He urged villagers to economically use the tank water in view of drought situation in the region. “The district administration has desilted the tank and the University has taken up cleanliness and beautification of water bodies in the village,” he added. Soon a general survey of the village would be conducted, the data would be recorded to use for village development, VC said.
NGO Nature First head P.V. Hiremath, KUD Registrar Prof. MN Joshi, Finance Officer Prof. RL Hyderabad, villagers, GP members and volunteers were present.
