Dharwad: Ashok Kheny faced the wrath of the farmer leaders for not only made the kin of the deceased farmers wait for hours but also giving them a compensation of a mere Rs 5,000.

Ashok Kheny, MLA of Bidar and Managing Director of Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprises, was invited to partake in the Dasara celebrations held in Dharwad Taluk. He had reportedly urged the kin of deceased farmers to attend the programme. He had also promised compensation that would handed over to them during the programme.

The family of deceased farmers Manjunath, Mudukappa from Amminabavi, Maruthi from Harobelavady and Basavraj Kudari from Kabbenur received Rs 5000 as compensation from the leader.

Enraged with the small amount given to the family, farmer leaders slammed him and said, “You speak lightly about the farmers and you do not know the value of them. You are giving a small amount of Rs 5000 to the deceased farmers’ family members who waited for hours. We do not need your compensation. Give us your bank details, we will only give you compensation of Rs 10,000,” they said.

Finally, all the family members of deceased farmers decided to return the compensation to Kheny’s bank account.
