Dharwad: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has embarked upon “Sankalpadinda Siddi Yojana” with an intention to empower the farmers of the country, said Dharwad MP Prahlad Joshi.
This scheme, implemented from this year, would be in progress till 2022. During these five years, the government will ensure quality power supply, adequate water and linking the farmers to market. With this, the income of the farmers is expected to double in next five years, he added.
Speaking after inaugurating the “Sankalpadinda Siddi” programme organised by the University of Agricultural Sciences at Harobelavadi village in Dharwad taluk, Joshi said during these five years, the government would solve all the burning issues of the farmers and see that they are financially empowered and agriculture becomes a profitable venture.
Providing uninterrupted power and water, drip irrigation facility, soil testing, and providing micro nutrients to the farmers too is incorporated in this scheme, he said.
An expert committee has been formed to overcome the discrepancies in Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bheema Yojana (PMFBY), and see that the farmers who have incurred crop damage get good compensation at the earliest, he added.
