Dharwad: Noted educationist and writer Dr. K V Narayana was conferred with the “Ambikatanayadatta” National Award presented by Dr. D R Bendre National Memorial Trust, as part of poet’s 122nd birth anniversary here in Bendre Bhavan on Tuesday evening.
Veteran poet Dr. Channaveer Kanavi conferred the award, a citation and cash prize of Rs 1 Lakh. Writers, researchers, students among others witnessed the function.
Dr. D R Bendre National Memorial Trust President Dr. Shyamsundar Bidarkundi, Narasimha Paranjape and others were present.
Tributes offered
Members of Dr. D R Bendre National Memorial Trust, various organisations and writers offered their tributes to the late poet and Gyanpeetha Awardee Dr. D R Bendre on the occasion of his 122nd birth anniversary here on Tuesday.
Bendre Trust President Dr. Shyamsundar Bidarkundi led the people in offering floral tributes to the statue of the late Bendre at Kalabhavan in the morning.
Review of literature
Later, at a programme, writer Dr. H S Raghavendra Rao reviewed the works of noted writer Dr. K V Narayana who has been awarded the “Ambikatanayadatta National award.”
Rao said, “Narayan’s works guide us towards the light while touching upon the life of common persons enroute and giving chance for introspection among ourselves. Dr. Narayana has been successful in exploring one’s inner self and outer world. His service towards Hampi Kannada University and Kuvempu Bhasha Bharati institution were commendable,” Rao said.
