Belagavi: The final list of Congress party candidates for the Karnataka Assembly elections will be released on April 15. AICC Secretary of Belagavi division Manickam Tagore revealed this at a press meet held here on April 4.

Addressing the press, Tagore said that the party had surveyed and scrutinised the backgrounds of the contenders for the Congress ticket. The chief minister will announce the final list of candidates. He said that the party would surely win 12 seats in Belagavi alone.

Talking about Rahul Gandhi’s visit, Tagore said that the morale of the state Congress cadre was high after Rahul Gandhi’s visit. The huge response by people to Rahul’s 13-day “Janashirvad Yatra” is a testament to the success of the programme, he added.

He was also critical of the BJP. He alleged that the BJP was continually communalising issues since the past five to six months. “Such tactics will not work on the vigilant people of Karnataka. The people will give their vote to the party that stands for harmony, peace and development,” he said.
