Belagavi: The soaring mercury level in Belagavi took a dip after the region received a much-awaited magical spell of rainfall on Sunday.

Rainfall accompanied by hailstones lashed the city and adjoining villages for over 30 minutes. The rains began in the afternoon around 2.15 pm and continued till 3 pm. Belagavi has witnessed a record rise in temperature this year, the highest being 39 degrees Celsius.  

On Sunday, maximum temperature was recorded at 37.8 degrees Celsius. A main road was waterlogged, inconveniencing commuters.

Dharwad city received a light drizzle on Sunday evening, but even this light drizzle made people heave a sigh of relief.
