Belagavi: In the wake of one border dispute or the other erupting in the District, the border district of Belagavi should now be made a Union Territory. Otherwise, a resolution has been passed at the Marathi Sahitya Sammelan that Government documents should be provided in Marathi language to the Marathi-speaking people in the District.
Several decisions were taken at the 17th Marathi Sahitya Sammelana organised by The Sri Rawalnath Panchakroshi Sahitya Akademi at Belgundi Village in the Taluk on Sunday December 11. A resolution was passed a that the Central Government should immediately declare the border area as a Union Territory. Marathi Sahitya Sammelans in the border areas are an integral part of literature and culture. Marathi-speaking people have been fighting for the border for the past six decades. It is also supported by literary conferences. Thus, the Maharashtra Government pays at least Rs. 5 lakh every year two months in advance for literary conferences, it was noted.
“The grant should be credited to the account of the respective institutions. It was also decided to provide economic and social justice to the border areas.
