Belagavi: The State Government has decided to further simplify the process of converting agricultural land for non-agricultural purposes.
Revenue Minister R. Ashoka said a bill in this regard is also proposed to be introduced in the same session. Replying to a question raised by MLC Manjunath Bhandari, the Minister said that farmers have been given an opportunity to apply online for conversion of non-agricultural land.
The Deputy Commissioner have been given the power to take a decision in this regard. He said he would examine and take action, he noted.
There is lot of problem in terms of conversion of agricultural land. The State Government has taken this important decision at a time when there are allegations among the public that it is leading to corruption.
