Bagalkot: After three weeks following a complaint on objectionable statements, the Ilkal Town police on the night of Saturday February 5 arrested the State President of the All-India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) Usman Ghani Humnabad.

Members of the Hindu Jagarana Vedike (HJV) had filed a complaint against Usmangani on January 14 for making statements against Hindu mothers and practises during a private party at Ilkal.

After receiving credible information, the police arrested him from an undisclosed place.

“Usman Ghani was produced before the Tahsildar and sent to judicial custody till February 9. We have taken him into custody under Section 10 of the CrPC, though he has been granted bail. If he is released right away, there is a good probability he will incite a section of the people,” informed SP Lokesh Jagalasar.
