Bagalakote: Prime Minister Narendra Modiji’s ambitious Jal Jeevan Mission scheme is being used properly to provide clean drinking water in rural areas, said BJP candidate from Bilagi Constituency Murgesh Nirani. “I am satisfied that water has been delivered to your doorstep,” he added.

He was addressing a roadshow and campaign meeting at Kandagal and Honnihal LT in Bilagi Constituency. “In 2008-13 itself, I implemented five multi-village drinking water schemes. In the first phase, we brought water from the river and delivered it to the villages. Now in the second phase, under the Jal-Jeevan Mission scheme, the second phase of water supply by laying pipelines to the doorsteps of every household in all the villages of the constituency,” he said.

“We have implemented the scheme. It can’t stop there. In the third phase, the target is to provide clean water 24×7 to the kitchen of every household in the constituency,” he said.

“So far, adequate water supply is being provided to 101 habitations under JJM. In the last five years, a total of Rs 162.44 Crore has been allocated for construction of upstream water reservoirs, construction of water purification plants, pipeline laying, maintenance of clean drinking water units for schools, colleges, anganwadis, etc., multi-village drinking water supply and maintenance,” he said.
