Belagavi: The controversy over the video about anti-national slogans raised at the election rally of Congress candidate Feroz Saith blew out of proportions as BJP MP Suresh Angadi urged the district authorities and the police to arrest or shoot the culprits.
Speaking to the media on May 10, Angadi urged, “Since two days the video of Saith’s followers chanting anti-national slogans at his election rally has gone viral. Instead of condemning the incident, Saith is supporting them. The district authorities and the police department should issue shoot at sight order against these anti-nationals.”
It may be recalled that Feroz Saith had claimed that the video in question was fake and no such incident happened anywhere. He had urged the police to arrest the people who were responsible for doctoring the video and spreading lies to incite communal tensions ahead of the assembly elections.
However, this clarification from Saith did not satisfy Suresh Angadi. He urged the police to arrest MLA Feroz Saith immediately for allegedly standing in support of these followers.
“What is Saith’s contribution to Belagavi in the past 10 years? He does not even speak proper Kannada”, alleged Angadi. He claimed that he had reported such incident to the previous commissioner S Ravi and he had assured of prompt action. However, no action was taken by the police, he alleged.
Dr. Prabhakar Kore, Rajendra Harakuni, Anil Benke and Kiran Jadhav accompanied him during the press meet.
