Bengaluru: BBMP is all set to make pet dog registration and licensing compulsory soon, it has been reported. Sources state that the draft rules which is likely to be published will be open for consultation from public too.

It is said that the pet dog licensing and registration is likely to be implemented smoothly as BBMP has had many meetings with pet dog owners, animal welfare organisations and other stakeholders and has incorporated their suggestions, according to sources. It has been planned that the licensed pet dogs will have a microchip with the owner’s details incase the pets are abandoned the owners can be made accountable. Further, ensuring vaccination of dogs too has been given priority.

It can be recalled here that the pet licensing was first proposed in 2014.
