Bengaluru: There is a pall of gloom in Lane No-3, Krishnanagar, Off Tumakuru Road.

The residents of this locality are horrified with the heinous act of their fellow resident, a woman who killed eight puppies, just to teach a stray dog a lesson!

The wailing of four-year-old Ammu, a stray dog living in this lane speaks for her pain of having lost eight of her litter in one go. This grieving mother was lastly seen digging out the puppies from the grave and trying to nurse them, a scene that could melt even a numb heart.

The fault was that Ammu had littered them near the gate of a resident named Ponnamma, wife of a former honorary flight lieutenant. Raged by this act of Ammu, Ponnamma handpicked the 15-day old puppies on March 15 and flung them mercilessly on a boulder.

In this demonic act, seven of the puppies died on the same day, while one died the next day.

The outraged residents of the area filed a complaint with Compassion Unlimited Plus Action (CUPA) on March 17 and in a brisk action, the NGO registered a complaint with Peenya police.

The cops have seized some footage from a CCTV near Ponnamma’s house and have registered a case under Section 93 of the Karnataka Police Act pertaining of punishment for cruelty on animals, Section 11 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act of 1960 and IPC 429.

If proven guilty Ponnamma can be put behind bars for 5 years.

However, it is learnt that when one of the angry residents confronted Ponnamma, without even an iota of guilt, Ponnamma said that she disliked the puppies and hence it killed them.
