Asia’s second largest lake Sulekere reaches its max level

Davanagere: The water at Sulekere, which is claimed to be the second largest built lake in Asia is upto the brim as it has reached its maximum level due to heavy rains past one week.

The lake covers an area of 60 kilometres, and provides drinking water to 600 villages in Channagiri, Holalkere and Jagalur Taluks among others in the Districts of Davanagere, and Chitradurga

The lake has reached its maximum level after a decade, and has a capacity to store three TMCs of water.
