Mangaluru: An elderly man who was trying to board the Malabar Express train was saved in the nick of the moment by police personnel when he was getting dragged by the train at Mangalore Central Railway Station at 6.15 pm on Thursday.
When the Malabar Express train was leaving Mangalore Central Railway Station, a passenger named Shankar Babu (70) was trying to board the S-6 coach of the train and was hanging on the handle.
Police constable Prakash noticed the elderly man getting dragged and attempting to get off the moving Malabar Express.
If Prakash had not noticed, Shankar would have become stuck between the track and the train, resulting in a tragic incident. Shankar Babu, a resident of Vyalveedu, Kannur, Kerala, sustained a minor injury on his right toe and survived.
