Shivamogga: An accused from Tipu Nagar here who sexually harassed a minor has been punished with 20-year rigorous imprisonment.

Judge Dayanand on Tuesday September 14 not only awarded him 20 years imprisonment, but also fined him of Rs. 50000 failing which he would have to undergo an additional 6-month imprisonment. The aggrieved 9-year old will be compensated with Rs. 48000 and Rs. 2000 will be taken as forfeiture charges by the government.

The accused is identified as Barqat AKA Mohammed Ghouse Peer, who has been accused of sexually harassing his 9-year-old relative way back in May, 2019.
