Abu Dhabi: The 6th Annual Dubai Dasara Sports & Cultural Fest, themed ‘Naada Habba Arab Naadalli’ and presented by ‘Merville Investments Dubai,’ took place on the auspicious occasion of the world-famous Mysuru Dasara on December 10th at the Etisalat Sports Academy in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
The event was graced by distinguished guests, including members of the Dubai Royal Family such as His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Juma Al Maktoum, His Excellency Dr. Ahmed Mohamed Rashid, Dr. Syed Touseef, Dr. Malathi Holla, and Sri. Dodda Ganesh. The inauguration, led by Dr. Malathi Holla, featured a march-fast torch carried by Mr. Dodda Ganesh.
The prestigious annual ‘Dubai Kreedaratna Award’ by Hemmeya Dubai Kannada Sangha, bestowed upon Kannadiga sports achievers who have brought fame to Karnataka at the international level, was awarded to Olympic Athlete, Arjuna Awardee, Padmashri Dr. Malathi Krishnamurthy Holla for the year 2020. The 2023 Dubai Kreeda Ratna award was presented to International Ace Cricketer, Fast Bowler & Coach Mr. Dodda Ganesh amid cheers from the crowd and dignitaries of the UAE.
The event, exclusively for Kannadigas, witnessed sports and cultural enthusiasts from all seven states (Emirates) of the UAE participating. The Olympic torch, a grand parade featuring India, UAE, and Karnataka flags, accompanied by Dhol music, filled the stadium with joyous celebration. The National and State Anthems resonated, filling hearts with pride.
Various games, including Khoko, Kabaddi, Badminton, Throwball, Volleyball, Chess, Athletics, Football, Tug of War, Cricket, Kavigosti, Quiz, Theme Writing competition, Rangoli, Antyakshari, and Dasara Doll Competition, were conducted. Participants joyously claimed a total of 384 Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals, along with Team Trophies, amidst tough competition in each category.
The fest was magnificently hosted by Vishnu Murthy Mysuru and Shwetha Nadig. The grand musical night featured Sandalwood celebrity singers Hemanth, Divya, Dr. Abhishek, Keybordist Harshvardhan, and Kannada Rapper Rahul Ditto. They enthralled the crowd of Kannadigas and UAE expat residents from India and various other countries with foot-tapping songs and dance. Instruments and Anchor Anusha motivated everyone in the crowd to join the celebration party of the biggest Kannadiga community festival in the UAE.
Medals and trophies were handed over to the winners by President Madhu Davanagere, Vice President Hadiya Mandya, General Secretary Rafiq Ali Kodagu, Mamatha Mysuru, Sudeep Davanagere, Shankar Belagavi, Pallavi Davanagere, Vishnu Murthy Mysuru, Anitha Bengaluru, Dr. Savitha Mysuru, Mohideen Hubballi, Varadaraja Kolara, and Akram Kodagu.
