Bangalore: Four men allegedly gang-raped a Mumbai-based woman and pushed her from the second floor of a lodge in HSR Layout here on Saturday, late night May 10
The 26-year-old woman said to be a sex worker, sustained injuries and is undergoing treatment at Vani Vilas Hospital. Unconfirmed reports said she is a beauty parlour employee.
HSR Layout police have registered cases of rape, kidnap and attempt to murder against the assailants. An FIR has been filed based on the statement given to doctors by the woman.
According to her statement, the woman was picked up by one of the accused from a location on the Outer Ring Road. She was told there was one customer, but after driving to the lodge in HSR Layout she found four men waiting for her.
The woman fought these men and tried to escape from them. The men allegedly raped her. She was pushed from the second floor of the building by one of the accused as she tried to run away from them.
Passersby saw the injured woman and took her to Vani Vilas Hospital.
On Sunday, the woman refused to give a statement to police. “She did not cooperate with us when we went there to take her statement. Even the little she spoke was contradictory. We are waiting for her to respond to us,” said an HSR Layout police officer.
KV Sharat Chandra, joint commissioner of police, Bangalore East, said the cops are awaiting the findingsof medicaltestsconductedon the woman at Vani Vilas Hospital.
“Her statement is contradictory. However, cases of kidnap, rape and attempt to murder have been booked. As of now, the case is based on the statement she gave to the doctors. We will take the investigation forward once she gives a proper statement to us,” Sharat Chandra said.
Police are trying to track down the assailants through the mobile phone they used to call the woman.
