New Delhi: The Union Cabinet on Wednesday has banned the use of beacons atop VIP vehicles, it is reported.
As per sources the move which is seen as an attempt to end the prevalent VIP culture will come into existence from May 1. The ban will also encompass vehicles being used by the President, Prime Minister, ministers, and judges.
The same will however not be applicable to emergency vehicles, like ambulances that can continue to use red or blue beacons.
Currently, both Uttar Pradesh and Punjab under the new leadership of Yogi Adityanath and Captain Amarinder Singh respectively, have shunned the use of red beacon lights on vehicles.
