Man Urinates, Pelts Stones at Temple; Police Cite Mental Illness

Uttarakhand: In a disturbing incident from Dehradun, Uttarakhand, a Muslim man was captured on CCTV urinating at the gate of a temple and throwing stones at the premises. The incident, which occurred late at night at the Kali Mata Temple in Harrawala, has raised concerns about potential disruptions to communal harmony.

Late at night, around 1 AM on Tuesday (December 12), the man entered the Kali Mata Temple and was caught urinating at the temple gate. He further escalated the situation by hurling stones, causing damage to the temple’s glass. Upon discovering the incident through the circulated video on social media, the police swiftly launched an investigation and initiated a search operation to apprehend the accused. The prompt action aimed to prevent any escalation of religious sentiments in the area.

The police successfully located and arrested the accused, identified as Mohammed Saddam, from Mehuwala in Dehradun. Saddam is a resident of Nayanagar in Mehuwala. Authorities have asserted that the accused, Mohammed Saddam, is mentally challenged and is undergoing treatment at Selaqui Mental Hospital. The police, emphasizing the mental health aspect, stated that the accused is in custody and will be presented before the court soon.

The incident prompted reactions from Hindu organizations, leading to commotion at the scene. The police’s proactive efforts aimed to maintain law and order and prevent any potential communal tension. The legal proceedings will further shed light on the circumstances surrounding the shocking act at the temple in Dehradun.
