The much-anticipated ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony at Ayodhya’s historic Ram Temple is underway, heralded by a series of Vedic rituals that commenced today, initiating a week-long celebration leading up to the ceremonial installation of Lord Ram on January 22.

The Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has meticulously organized the proceedings, with today’s atonement ceremony hosted by the appointed officiant. The ‘Dashvidh’ bath, a crucial element of the rituals, is scheduled to occur on the sacred banks of the Saryu River, accompanied by Prayaschita and Karmakuti Poojan.

The chosen masterpiece for installation at the historic temple is the idol of Ram Lalla, crafted by the renowned sculptor Arun Yogiraj. The seven-day rituals will conclude on January 22 with the Pran Pratishtha ceremony, to be presided over by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Jawahar Lal Nehru University (JNU) Vice-Chancellor Santishree Dhulipudi Pandit emphasized the significance of the event, noting that Lord Ram symbolizes ‘unity in diversity,’ calling for all Indians to take pride in it.

Former Indian cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has received an invitation to attend the ceremony, showcasing the diverse array of dignitaries participating in this historic event.

Saraswathi, the mother of sculptor Arun Yogiraj, expressed joy at her son’s Ram Lalla idol being chosen, attributing it to his dedicated work over the past six months.

The excitement for the Pran Pratishtha of Shri Ram Lalla is evident, with people from various states contributing gifts such as water, soil, gold, silver, gems, clothes, jewelry, bells, drums, and aroma items. Special gifts from Maa Janaki’s maternal homes at Janakpur (Nepal) and Sitamarhi (Bihar) and offerings from other regions highlight the widespread enthusiasm and devotion.

The culmination of the Prana Pratishtha program on January 22 is anticipated to be a historic moment, celebrated with great enthusiasm across the nation, including Ayodhya. The formal procedures and pre-ceremony rituals, following scriptural protocols, will persist until the auspicious date, ensuring the sanctity of the event.
