Ayodhya‘s Ram Janmabhoomi temple received the new idol of Lord Ram on Thursday afternoon, a few days before the grand consecration ceremony on January 22. The god is shown in the first image of the black stone idol as a five-year-old standing child.

The 51-inch statue, created by Mysuru-based artist Arun Yogiraj, had a veil covering its face. The idol of Ram Lalla was placed in the sanctum sanctorum earlier today while prayers were being chanted.

The consecration ceremony, known as “pran pratishtha,” or January 22, will be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Ram temple is scheduled to open to the public the following day.

Pran Pratistha, which is an essential practice for any idol worshipped in a temple, refers to the imbuing of the idol with divine consciousness.

To “avoid causing any problems to Lord Ram,” the Prime Minister has asked the public not to visit Ayodhya on January 22. However, he added that everyone is welcome to visit starting on January 23.

Additionally, he has requested that on January 22, every Indian light a diya in their home.

The temple trust has invited over 11,000 guests, including Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan and cricket greats Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli.

All of the temple trust’s trustees, as well as seers from over 150 sects and more than 500 individuals who were involved in the temple’s construction—dubbed the “Engineer Group”—will also be present at the ceremony.

At the temple, which was built at the location that many devotees believe to be the birthplace of Lord Ram, preparations for the consecration ceremony have already started.

According to sources, before taking part in the major event, PM Modi is also closely adhering to a set of guidelines and customs. According to sources, the prime minister has only been consuming coconut water and is sleeping on the floor with just a blanket.
