Uppur Shivaji Poojary elected as new Chairman of Bharat Co-operative Bank Ltd

Mumbai: Uppur Shivaji Poojari has been elected as the new Chairman of the prestigious Bharat Co-operative Bank (Mumbai) Ltd, a multistate scheduled bank sponsored by the Billawara Association of the city.

Uppur Shivaji Poojary is a retired banker who served for the long term as General Manager of a nationalised bank. He has extensive experience in the banking sector and has been serving as director of Bharat Bank for many years. He is expected to utilize his experience and skills for the overall development of the bank which is now a popular name for its quality service and customer support.

Uppoor Shivaji Poojary was selected at the Governing Board meeting held at the Bank’s headquarters in the presence of the Bank’s Chairman Emeritus Jaya C Suvarna. During his leadership, it was a golden age of Bharat Bank, with the bank achieving a number of achievement awards by recognizing that it is the pioneer in the banking business. Bharat Bank, which already has 102 branches and an extension branch in Maharashtra, Karnataka and Gujarat, does over Rs 19,000 crore business.

The bank’s board of directors, Rohini Salyan, Vasudeva R Kotian, Jyothi K Suvarna, Bhaskara M Salian, Jaya A Kotian, Somnath B Amin, Gangadhar J Poojary, Suryakanth J Suvarna, NT Poojary, Purushotham S. Kotian, Mohandas A Poojari, Premanath P Kotian, Shardha S Karkare, Anbalagan C Harijan, Raja V Salian, Bank MD and CEO Vidyanand S Karkera and Joint Managing Director Dinesh B Salian were present. All the absentee board members, Chandrasekhar Poojary, President of Billawara Association Mumbai and the Governing Body of the Billava Chamber of Commerce have congratulated the new chairman.
