Lucknow: Whatever your personal views are about social media, you can’t deny that it can sometimes help one’s situation or even improve it if you are lucky enough, as this heart-warming story will prove.

Recently, a cop from Uttar Pradesh, posted a photo of herself working at the police station, while her six-month-old daughter lay asleep beside her. The image soon went viral, resulting in the woman cop being transferred to her hometown in Agra.

Constable Archana Singh was posted at the grievance redressal desk in Kotwali district, Jhansi, which is nearly 233 km from Agra. She was posted there back in 2016, forcing her to leave her elder daughter with her parents in Kanpur as her husband works in Gurugram. As she had no other option, she would carry her infant daughter to work with her every day.

When UP Director General of Police OP Singh saw the viral image, he immediately ordered for her to be transferred closer to her home. He even asked the UP police to explore creche options at every police line.

In a tweet, the DGP expressed his admiration for women like Archana saying, “The quintessential 21st century woman, an ace at any responsibility she is trusted with! Had a conversation with Archana this morning & ordered her transfer to Agra, closer home! The lil one brightening Jhansi Pstn, has inspired us to explore crèche options at every Police line. (sic)”

The DGP’s response was lauded by the Twitteratti as well as Archana herself, who especially liked his initiative of starting creche facilities at police stations.
