Delhi: There may be a revision in the University exam guidelines in April. Indications are rife after many students complained of travel restrictions. Already many states like Maharashtra, Odisha, Haryana, etc have deferred their final year university exams in wake of the rising number of coronavirus cases. UGC has not released any final notification on this issue yet.

The Times of India has reported that the commission is now thinking of revising its exam guidelines.

New guidelines may include internal assessment and previous semester results to assess the students this year.

The April guidelines included the conduct of exams, the projects, and mode of exams, and the academic calendar to be referred to by universities across India, etc.

The AICTE Chairman spoke to the Times of India on the subject. “Now taking into context the current Covid-19 pandemic, the situation in different states, the UGC is revising the guidelines that were earlier released.”

There are various councils / regulatory such as the AICTE, Bar Council, Pharmacy council, and Architecture council and the MCI that have their own issues and reservations over the issued guidelines and will be consulted before a final view is taken on the matter.

Recently UGC extended the joining period to 6 months from the previous 3 months for the selected few to the Dr. DS Kothari Post Doctoral Fellowship Scheme.

students are advised to keep a check on the official website of UGC for any updates.
