Jammu and Kashmir: Talking about the political leaders of Jammu and Kashmir, who have been placed under house arrest after the abrogation of the Article 370, J&K Governor Satya Pal Malik has said that those detained for the longest become the tallest leaders.
More than 50 leaders are detained since August 5, including Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti. “The one who stays detained the longest, becomes the tallest leader. If they face any problem, they can contact me and we will help provide facilities,” he said in a rather sarcastic tone.
“We are not enemies of the people of Kashmir. We will show that we mean well for them. I safely say Kashmir has a great future. So many talented people are here, we will ensure them opportunities,” the Governor said, speaking to Indiatoday TV. The Governor on Wednesday ordered 50,000 government employment opportunities as the largest recruitment drive for J&K.
Calling Pakistan as a nation drowning in its own problems, Malik said that Pakistan is creating trouble at the Indian border due to its own insecurities.
