Uttar Pradesh: Goramachiya village in Jhansi is in terror of a 12-year-old girl these days.  The girl is said to burn everything she puts her hands on. While some people are calling it a blessing; others see it as a curse, blaming some dark, evil force for the unusual occurrence.

The girl had reportedly lost her parents long ago and was adopted by the former head of the village. He claims that the girl can perform- what can only be described as- miracles. According to the girl’s guardian, he first noticed that something was strange when the girl would ‘power up’ fans and bulbs. She later started to spark off spontaneous combustion by simply touching objects. One day the clothes she was wearing went up in flames, yet the girl suffered no injuries or burns.

Villagers are scared of the girl and her ‘powers’. They also fear that she might harm herself. Villagers have now turned to praying at the local temple believing that the local deity’s blessing will cure the girl.
