Chennai: One person died while nine others sustained severe injuries in a theme park after a joy ride crashed at Kishkinta theme Park in Kancheepuram district on Wednesday.

It is said that the mishap occurred after the theme park was closed and a particular joy ride was being tested. The reason has not yet been ascertained.

The victim, identified as Mani, was declared brought dead at a hospital.

The nine persons were treated for injuries.

Police said the incident occurred after the park was closed.

The management could not be reached for comments.

An employee only said that the theme park, a popular one, was closed today.
