Hyderabad: 28,057 postal ballot applications have been accepted by Telangana election authorities for the state Assembly elections that are set for November 30.
Form 12D applications for postal ballots from absentee voters, including senior citizens, PwDs (people with disabilities), and voters for essential services, totaled 44,097.
The Chief Electoral Officer reports that 28,057 applications have been approved.
The Siddipet Assembly constituency received the most applications (812), of which 757 were approved. In the Bahadurpura constituency, at least 11 applications were received, and each one was approved.
Form 12D distribution started on November 1 and applications were to be submitted by November 8 at the latest.
Employees from the Airports Authority of India, Food Corporation of India, Railways, Press Information Bureau, Doordarshan, All India Radio, electricity wing, family welfare, Road Transport Corporation, food and civil supply, BSNL, media persons authorized by the EC, and fire services personnel are among the groups of workers who are deemed to be part of the essential service category and are eligible to cast postal ballots.
