Thiruvananthapuram: A first-year student of a technology institute in Idukki of Kerala was hospitalized after suffering severe injuries on allegedly being ragged by his seniors. Five students were booked on Friday.
Athul Mohan, who joined the DC School of Management and Technology on June 22, said he was forced to hold a rod in one hand and a mobile phone in another for more than two hours by his seniors on condition that neither of the things should fall off. Things turned ugly when Atul lost balance over the things and the seniors repeatedly hit him.
It is said that initially the college authorities tried to hush up the matter, but suspended the five students and ordered an internal probe after Atul lodged a complaint. Atul also added that he was threatened by some senior students with dire consequences if he proceeded with his complaint.
The five students involved in the act are missing.
