Mumbai: Tanishq, which has once again come under fire for a recent advertisement, has withdrawn the commercial ad.
The new Ekatvam ad for Diwali, featuring actresses Neena Gupta, Sayani Gupta, Nimrat Kaur and Alaya Furniturewala, has irked many for its content.
In the advertisement, the women are shown expressing what they wish to do this Diwali.
“I am hoping to be able to meet my mum after really long. Definitely no firecrackers, I don’t think anyone should light any firecrackers. But a lot of diyas, lot of laughter hopefully and lot of positivity,” says Sayani Gupta in the advertisement and these lines have not gone down well with many.
Many took to social networking platforms to expressed their opinion on the advertisement and a large section said that there are many factors contributing to pollution and firecrackers are not the only pollutants.
Soon after the backlash, Tanishq pulled down the advertisement.
BJP National General Secretary from Karnataka C T Ravi too took exception to the advertisement and questioned why anyone should advise Hindus how to celebrate their festivals.
Why should anyone advice Hindus how to celebrate Our Festivals?
Companies must focus on selling their products, not lecture us to refrain from bursting Crackers.
We will light lamps, distribute sweets and burst green crackers. Please join us. You will understand Ekatvam. https://t.co/EfmNNDXWFD

Tanishq recently faced severe backlash for an ad showing a Hindu woman about to be married into a Muslim family.
