Chennai: City Gripped by Tragedy as Eight Lives Lost in Rain-Related Incidents, Confirms Police on Monday. Authorities Investigating the Circumstances Surrounding the Fatalities.

Pregnant women, children, and the elderly have been rescued from danger zones. Chief Minister M.K. Stalin conducted an inspection of the impacted regions, overseeing rescue operations and relief facilities. The implementation of stormwater drain projects in Chennai by the DMK government played a crucial role in minimizing damage. Despite heavy rain, damages are less compared to previous instances. Around 5,000 workers have been deployed for relief work, and approximately 162 relief centers are operating across the state, with 43 in Chennai. Flight services at Chennai airport have resumed, but staff are advised to remain vigilant.
