Chennai: The 24-year-old Swati Parachuri, died in a low intensity bomb blast occurred in Bangalore-Guwahati Express at Chennai Central Railway Station on Thursday, May 1. The bomb was kept under Swati’s seat. Swati Parachuri was an employee of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and was on her way to one of her relative’s house in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh
The train started from Bangalore on Wednesday morning and it was scheduled to reach by 5:40 am but it was running late. The blasts occurred at S4 and S5 coaches of the train which was standing at platform No 9 around 7:15 am.
Railway Police, which have been investigating the blast case, suspected that a mobile device was used to trigger the twin blasts aboard the train. Two persons have been detained so far and they have been questioned.While one suspect was hiding in the train, another suspect was arrested from the airport. The twin blasts created ruckus as one ISI agent was arrested in the city on Wednesday. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister condemned the blasts.
TCS issued a statement saying, “We are deeply shocked and saddened at this unfortunate loss of life of our colleague in this tragic incident. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this time.” TCS HR team visited Swati’s family in Chennai hospital.

Her friends and relatives recall Swati as a very bright girl, very good at studies and meticulous.
Swati had completed her education with the help of scholarships and did B.Tech in Electronics and Computer Sciences. She was from an ordinary middle class family and as she had got a job immediately after her graduation, she was contented and happy in life. It is also learnt that Swati’s parents were planning her wedding to her classmate in the next couple of months.
Swati left for Bangalore and joined the TCS sometime in December last year. She liked Bangalore, its people and her job.
Since, it is summer season, getting a confirmed train ticket was tough. She had managed a ticket under the ‘Tatkal’ scheme on the ill-fated train. She was supposed to reach Guntur by late afternoon. However tragedy struck and a young life was snuffed out.
