New Delhi: Samjawadi Party leader Kamaal Farooqui on Friday courted a massive controversy after he questioned the arrest of alleged chief of Indian Mujahideen Yasin Bhatkal.
“It has been found that police often arrest terrorists without having evidence against them. Many such cases have surfaced in the past when arrests are made solely on basis of religion. I appeal to the Centre to investigate the facts before taking action against him,” Farooqui said.
“Is this arrest based on crime or religion,” Farooqui was quoted as questioning.
Presently in custody of the NIA, Bhatkal is expected to be produced in special court on Friday evening.
