New Delhi: Shantibushan, father of Prashant Bushan and a founding member of the AAP, has said in an interview to headlines today channel that Kejriwal has strayed from IAC values. He said, ticket distribution has been done on the basis of contributions to the party and not based on the priciples of probity.

He alleged that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) traded tickets for money. The 89-year-old, co-founder of AAP congratulated the party on its victory but said he won’t celebrate. “I am very happy with the victory. Won’t celebrate because the leadership has strayed from its objectives,” he said.

Bhushan expressed dissapointment saying that AAP traded tickets for money and distributing liquor. He said, “15-20 MLAs are not fully clean. Kejriwal must also be regretting taking them in the party.”

Taking a dig at the leadership of the party, Bhushan said AAP leaders should make course correction and refuse taking tainted MLAs as ministers.

On the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) poor performance in Delhi Assembly elections, Shanti Bhushan said the party lost because it made false promises and failed to deliver on black money.

“Modi failed to check Sakshi Maharaj, Yogi Adityanath and Sadhvi Prachi. He should have spoken,” he said.

MLA Contributions:

A scrutiny of the AAP website, indicates that the AAP party candidates have indeed contributed to the party by way of donations. While Shantibushan has suggested that these donations are in return for the tickets, there is no evidence to suggest a quid pro quo. However the linkage between the donation and the allotment of the ticket, is open to interpretation.

The lowest contribution comes from candidate Raghuvendra Shaukeen of the Nangloi Jat constituency who donated just Rs:4,547.00, while the highest contribution receieved by the party was from Pankaj Pushkar of the Timarpur constituency. He donated Rs: 1,698,335.00

Seven candidates have donated more than Rs: 5 lakhs. These include, Rajesh Gupta from Wazirpur, Gopal Rai from Babarpur, Prakash Jarwal of Deoli, Rajesh Gupta of Wazirpur, Raju Dingan of Trilokpuri who donated more than six lakhs, Commando Surender of Delhi Cantt who donated more than 7 lakhs, Praveen Kumar of Jangpura who donated more than 9 Lakhs.
