Shankararaman murder : Kanchi seer, 22 others acquitted

Chennai : The Puduchery Sessions Court has acquitted  all 23 persons including Kanchi Shankaracharya Jayendra Saraswati in the 2004 Shankararaman murder case.The judge said that the complainant had failed to support the prosecution.
The  verdict comes almost nine years after the incident.Over 20 witnesses were examined to prove the murder, but most failed to support the prosecution.

It was on September 3, 2004 that  a man named Sankararaman, a manager of the Varadarajaperumal temple in Kanchipuram, was brutally murdered. It was an investigative report in Nakkeeran that had linked the Kanchi   seer to the murder.

Though there were a total of 24 accused in the case, one of them named Kanteeravan was killed in Chennai in March this year.
