New Delhi: After pictures taken from the Shaheen Bagh shooter, Kapil Gujjar’s phone showed him along with leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), his family has denied having any connections with the said party.

It can be recalled that the photographs released by the Delhi Police not only showed that Gujjar is a member of the ruling AAP, but also showed him with AAP leaders Sanjay Singh and Atishi Marlena.

AAP has called the development “dirty politics” by the BJP.

Despite the evidence, Gujjar’s father and brother have denied having any connection with AAP.

Clarifying that the family has nothing to do with AAP and explaining the truth behind the photo, Gujjar’s father, Gaje Singh said, “They came to campaign during the Lok Sabha elections and made us all wear the caps.”

He added that he used to be in the BSP and even contested an election as their candidate in 2012. “I became unwell after that and quit politics. We don’t have anything to do with politics. When the BJP candidate came to campaign here, this time, I garlanded them as well, just like I would have done to welcome any other candidate,” Singh explained.

The photos released by the Delhi Police have added more fuel to the war of words that has been ongoing between the BJP and the AAP parties. There have been several shootings in Delhi over the past few days. Most recently, BJP Minister of State for Finance, Anurag Thakur reportedly egged a gathering on to chant the phrase “goli maaro sa***n ko” in response to his phrase “desh ke gaddaro ko”.
