Bijapur : Efforts to rescue four year old Akshatha who fell into an open borewell on Tuesday June 17 night  at Nagathan village, continued   even on Thursday June 19. Reports of late suggest that the possibility of the survival of the little girl was bleak as rocks and stones underneath are coming in the way of the rescue operations.

Presently, an alternate tunnel is being dug up close by the borewell in a last ditch effort to rescue the little girl. The National Disaster Management team from Saangli, Pune and  experts from Hatti Gold Mines are at the spot and are involved in rescue works.

On Wednesday,  Manikantan of Madurai in Tamil Nadu who had designed a special equipment for rescuing children trapped in bore wells was brought to the site in an helicopter. However, the operation using the equipment  was dropped as the Disaster Management Team felt the use of the equipment may not be of much help.
