Mangaluru: A court in Rajasthan has acquitted all six men charged in the notorious Pehlu Khan mob lynching case. The six men were caught on camera assaulting 55-year-old Pehlu Khan in April 2017. They have cleared off all charges as they were allowed the benefit of the doubt.

Khan was a dairy farmer and had purchased a cattle at a cattle fair held in Jaipur. While transporting his purchase to Haryana, Khan was confronted by a group of cow vigilantes and was brutally thrashed. Graphic cellphone footage shows the culprits violently yanking Khan by the neck and kicking him while he’s on the ground. The victim died three days later in a government hospital.

The viral video aided the police in nabbing the attackers and filing an FIR against them. However, in a surprising move, Khan and his sons were also named in an FIR for transporting cattle across different states without availing the necessary permissions.

Although the mob originally comprised nine people, three of them were underaged and subsequently released on bail.

The Rajasthan court classified the video evidence as unsubstantial to its verdict.
