New Delhi: Responding to the news of BS Yeddyurappa resigning from his post as Chief Minister before the floor test began at the Karnataka Legislative Assembly, AICC president Rahul Gandhi said that the people of Karnataka have shown that money and power is not everything.
“The BJP is out to destroy every single institution. The Prime Minister, BJP national chief Amit Shah and the RSS do not seem to consider anything worthy of respect. The Karnataka episode must teach BJP a lesson,” he said recalling the Manipur and Goa results where the BJP disrespected the mandate of the people to form government.
He then took another dig at the PM by accusing him of authorising the buying of MLAs in Karnataka. “The PM’s idea of fighting corruption is a lie as he himself is corrupt. I am proud that the opposition stood united,” he said.
Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala was present during the press meet at their Headquarters in Delhi.
