Ujjain: Fans falling madly in love with actors and sports stars is a very common thing. Here in Ujjain, an obsessive fan of a dashing IPS officer has become a big headache for the Madhya Pradesh police.

It is said that a 27-year-old woman, a Post Graduate student in Psychology from Hoshiyarpur district of Punjab landed in Ujjain three days ago to meet Sachin Atulkar (34), currently posted here as the Superintendent of Police.

The lady is believed to have reached the SP’s office and also attended programmes that the SP was scheduled to attend, just to meet the officer who ‘stole’ her heart away.

Even as the lady insists that she lost her way back home and reached Ujjain, she is adamant on meeting Atulkar.

As per Women Police Station in-charge Rekha Verma, the lady says that she has been smitten by the ripped body and looks of the SP, which she came across on the social networking site.

Verma told NDTV that despite efforts to send her back home, the lady is not willing to go with her parents and is hellbent on meeting the SP.

“We are trying to counsel her and send her back. She has been taken to the department’s One Stop Reform Home,” she said adding that the lady threatened to plunge off the train if efforts were made to send her back to Punjab. Her parents too have reached Ujjain couple of days ago but even their efforts are turning futile.

Meanwhile, Atulkar is quoted in NDTV saying that while he is obligated to meet any individual as part of his duty, the specific episode was something personal and that he cannot be forced to meet anybody against his wish.

“When I was SP in Sagar district, I was requested by the parents of a seven-year-old boy who said he would eat only if he got my autograph. I obliged,” he said.
