New Delhi: Is former president Pranab Mukherjee going to lead the NDA as prime ministerial candidate in 2019?
Well, BJP’s angry ally Shiv Sena thinks so. An editorial in latest edition of Sena’s mouthpiece Saamna claims that Mukherjee may be the BJP’s PM candidate if the BJP fails to garner a majority in the Lok Sabha.
The BJP has already announced that it will contest the next Lok Sabha polls under PM Modi’s leadership.
The comment of the Sena has come three days after BJP president Amit Shah met Sena supremo Uddhav Thackeray in Mumbai and two days after Mukherjee visited the RSS’ headquarters in Nagpur and addressed the concluding session of the 25-day annual third year training camp.
Sena has decided to face the Lok Sabha polls all alone and Shah seems to have failed to convince Thackeray, who had told his cadres to pull up their socks to fight the polls.
