PM to inaugurate Ambedkar memorial on April 13

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Ambedkar National Memorial at 26, Alipur Road here on Friday, April 13 a government release said on Thursday, April 12.

This is the place where Dalit icon and Chairman of the committee that wrote India’s Constitution B.R. Ambedkar passed away on December 6, 1956.

Modi had laid the foundation stone of the memorial on March 21, 2016.

The memorial has been given the shape of a book.

“The museum at the memorial intends to create an immersive experience into the life of Ambedkar and his contribution to India through extensive use of static media, dynamic media, audio-visual content and multimedia technologies,” the release said.

A meditation hall has also been created. A Bodhi Tree, a musical fountain and a facade lighting are the other attractions of the memorial.

Ambedkar’s birth anniversary will be observed on April 14 (Saturday).
