Bhopal:  Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be convening a high-level meeting today (July 19) to assess the progress of Project Cheetah in light of the recent cheetah fatalities. The meeting is happening after the recent deaths of two male cheetahs, Tejas and Suraj.

Madhya Pradesh Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Wildlife, Aseem Srivastava informed about this and said that the members of the Leopard Screening Committee and Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan are also likely to attend the virtual meeting.

“Project Cheetah” is an ambitious project of the Centre, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi released eight cheetahs brought from Namibia on his birthday on September 17 last year at Kuno National Park. Again this year on February 18, 12 more leopards were brought from South Africa.
