New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today sounded the poll bugle in Delhi as he took on Aam Aadmi Party convener Arvind Kejriwal by asking him to join the Naxal movement if chooses to be an anarchist.

“Have you ever seen a leader who openly admits that he is an anarchist and that he believes in the practice of anarchy? If you want to practice anarchism you should go to the jungles and join the Naxals,” Modi said at a public rally at the Ramlila Maidan in New Delhi in an indirect reference to Kejriwal.

Upping the ante against AAP, the prime minister not only mocked at the activist attitude of the Kejriwal-led party but also of its 49-day stint in Delhi after the last Assembly polls.

“These guys are masters in protesting, give them that job. But we have the mastery in running a good government, so give us this job. Modi is not that kind of a person who would stab you in the back. They are spreading lies and they will continue to do that. It is their kind of politics,” Modi said mincing no words.

Appealing the electorate to vote for the BJP, the prime minister said, “In Delhi, there are “masters” of lies who will be defeated by public only. People have been spreading lies that after BJP comes to power, retirement age would be 58 instead of 60. Your dream is my dream. Give me opportunity, I will fulfill the dream by 2022.”

The prime minister in his address focussed on attacking AAP in a point-by-point manner by attempting to steal the thunder out of AAP’s poll plank on issues like corruption and electricity.

“I will make a corruption-free system from top to bottom. Like you choose your service provider for phone,we will introduce a system where you can choose who you want to buy your electricity from. I promise you that I will provide you with 24 hours supply of electricity. I will free Delhi from the noise of generators,” Modi said.

The prime minister also made it a point to specifically connect with the slum dwellers.

“I have a dream, every slum dweller in Delhi should have a house of his own by 2022, when India will complete 75 years of Independence. I have a dream, I need your support to fulfill it. I have a dream, would help me in making it come true? The poor today want a record, an answer, what has been done and what will be done for me,” Modi said amid a loud chorus of your name.

The prime minister also took the opportunity to showcase some of his achievements in his first seven months in government.

“We have opened 11 crore bank accounts under Jan Dhan scheme against a target of 7 crore till 26 January. I feel proud in saying that around 11 crore people have opened bank accounts till 10th January under Jan Dhan Yojana. It clearly shows, who used to work for rich and who is working effortlessly to address issues of the poor of nation. Did you ever see a poor standing inside a bank during Congress’s regime?” the prime minister said not sparing the Congress either.

“Look at huge heart of poor of nation, they opened up bank a/c with Rs 5 or 10 even when they could have opened accounts with zero balance. From Rs 5 to Rs 200, Rs 8500 crore were deposited in banks by the poor during the process of their zero-account-balance account openings. On 15 August, I had announced that we will bring the poor to banks, there was a lot of fuss and banks were apprehensive. But we were fixated. It is an example of how work can be done if you really have intentions of working,” he said.

The prime minister also made sure that the youth was not left out in his speech.

“Today the youth of the nation is waiting for their future with immense hopes and aspirations,” Modi said.
