New Delhi: Amid escalating tensions in the Middle East, particularly following Iran’s launch of over 300 projectiles toward Israel in response to an airstrike on its embassy in Syria, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the BJP-led NDA government’s commitment to safeguarding the lives of Indian citizens in conflict zones if re-elected for a third term.
During the unveiling of the BJP’s manifesto for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, PM Modi underscored the importance of a strong government with a significant mandate to address global challenges and facilitate the evacuation of distressed Indians from conflict areas.
Speaking at the BJP’s national headquarters in Delhi, PM Modi highlighted the prevailing global instability and stressed the government’s responsibility to prioritize the safety and security of Indian citizens during uncertain times.
PM Modi’s remarks gain significance in light of ongoing conflicts such as the Russia-Ukraine dispute and the Israeli offensive against Hamas in Gaza.
The BJP-led NDA government’s previous term saw proactive measures to evacuate stranded Indians from conflict zones, including ‘Operation Ganga’ during the Russia-Ukraine conflict and ‘Operation Ajay’ amid the Israel-Hamas conflict.
Additionally, the government conducted daring rescue missions like ‘Operation Kaveri’ in Sudan and evacuation efforts from Kabul after the Taliban takeover.
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar also affirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring the safety of Indian citizens abroad, citing various successful evacuation operations.
PM Modi also praised India’s advocacy for developing nations, highlighting its role in amplifying the voice of the Global South.
