New Delhi, Jan 30 (IANS): Prime Minister Manmohan Singh paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on his 66th death anniversary Thursday.
The prime minister paid floral tributes at Rajghat, Mahatma Gandhi’s memorial on the banks of the Yamuna river where his body was cremated.
Besides, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and members of the Delhi assembly Thursday paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi on the anniversary of his assassination.
Kejriwal and Speaker M.S. Dhir paid floral tributes at Gandhi’s statute at the assembly complex at the Old Secretariat.
Law Minister Somnath Bharti, Women and Child Development Minister Rakhi Birla and Bharatiya Janata Party leader Harsh Vardhan also paid floral tributes.
Gandhi was assassinated by Nathuram Godse on this day in 1948 at Birla House located on what is now Tees January Marg in the heart of Delhi. The building is now a museum, known as Gandhi Smriti.
